'Shell Classic' is May's latest release in the Spirit Doll series. She came out of my latest gathering of materials with several others who also are artists of coastal art and part of the Beach Sisters Shop. 'Shell Classic' embraces ancient fashion design that some historical accounts allude in describing homes built with shells on the Mexican Pacific Coast. In anticipation of summer, 'Shell Classic' embraces the warmth that will be coming to our coast shortly, and none too soon with this chilly May spell!!

In the Spirit Doll series, 'A Looker' is the first to incorporate materials from a region outside the coast of California. 'A Looker, 2016' is made of materials collected in the region of the Yosemite Miwok people, and captures the special journey during which the materials for her and many more to come were collected. 'A Looker' honors the spirit of the Miwok, their knowledge and care of the Yosemite region so ancient that their strength, among many, is woven into the land of gigantic beauty, their spirits present in everything if you look close enough.'
